You know residential HVAC inside and out, and you can turn a set of plans into accurate load calculations, equipment selections, takeoffs, and bids that keep projects moving without costly surprises.
Pay: $75,000 to $95,000 per year, based on HVAC estimating experience and qualifications
Full-time, in-office position in Richardson, TX
Monday through Friday schedule
Approximately 40 hours per week

Take ownership of residential HVAC estimating, system design, equipment selection, and project planning
Work directly with field supervisors and project teams to improve material takeoffs, job costing, and HVAC project execution
Put your residential HVAC knowledge to work on projects where accurate calculations and equipment selections matter
Own the estimating process from plan review and Manual J calculations through takeoffs, equipment matching, and final bid preparation
Work with a team that values accuracy, organization, technical HVAC knowledge, and dependable follow-through
Collaborate directly with builders, contractors, vendors, project managers, and field supervisors
Catch equipment compatibility issues, design problems, and scope gaps before they reach the jobsite
Use industry tools including Wrightsoft, AHRI resources, manufacturer selection tools, spreadsheets, and construction plan software
Help refine HVAC designs, material takeoffs, and job costing based on real-world feedback from field supervisors
Build deeper expertise in residential new construction HVAC design, estimating, Energy Star requirements, and Texas mechanical codes
Work as an HVAC Estimator in Richardson, TX, supporting residential HVAC and new construction projects
Review residential construction plans, mechanical plans, specifications, and project documentation
Perform and review Manual J residential heating and cooling load calculations
Perform and review Manual S HVAC equipment selections
Use Wrightsoft for HVAC load calculations, equipment sizing, and system design
Complete detailed HVAC equipment and material takeoffs
Select properly matched furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, condensers, coils, and related HVAC equipment
Verify equipment matchups, system capacities, efficiency ratings, manufacturer performance data, and AHRI information
Prepare accurate residential HVAC bids, estimates, and proposals
Review estimates, equipment selections, calculations, and designs for accuracy before submission
Prepare HVAC design reports and required project documentation
Apply residential ventilation requirements and applicable building and mechanical code requirements
Assist with Energy Star HVAC documentation and design requirements
Review manufacturer specifications and equipment performance data
Communicate with builders, contractors, vendors, project managers, office personnel, and field supervisors regarding project requirements
Track bid deadlines and follow up on missing plans, specifications, selections, or other project information
Revise HVAC estimates, takeoffs, equipment selections, and designs when plans or project requirements change
Maintain organized records of bids, takeoffs, load calculations, equipment selections, and project documentation
Work with field supervisors to refine HVAC plans, estimated material takeoffs, and job costing
Manage multiple residential HVAC estimating projects while meeting established deadlines

Residential HVAC estimating, design, installation, or related HVAC experience
2+ years of residential HVAC estimating or design experience preferred
Strong understanding of residential heating and cooling systems
Ability to read and interpret residential construction plans, mechanical plans, specifications, and technical documents
Working knowledge of HVAC equipment sizing, system design, and proper equipment matching
Experience performing or reviewing Manual J load calculations
Experience performing or reviewing Manual S equipment selections
Experience with Wrightsoft or similar HVAC load calculation and design software
Ability to complete accurate HVAC material and equipment takeoffs
Knowledge of furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, condensers, coils, ventilation systems, and residential HVAC equipment
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Google Sheets, Google Drive, and PDF or plan-viewing software
Ability to use construction plan and document management software
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet bid deadlines
Clear communication skills when working with builders, contractors, vendors, project managers, and office and field personnel
HVAC installation or field experience preferred
Residential new construction HVAC experience preferred
Familiarity with Texas residential building and mechanical code requirements preferred
Experience with Energy Star HVAC documentation preferred
Familiarity with AHRI equipment information, manufacturer equipment selection tools, and construction or bidding software preferred
Ability to identify HVAC equipment compatibility, sizing, or design issues before equipment is ordered or installed
