Your New Role

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain steam and hot water boiler systems within the limits of a Grade 4 Stationary Engineer license

  • Conduct daily inspections and rounds for boilers, burners, feedwater systems, valves, and safety controls

  • Start up, shut down, and adjust boiler equipment following standard operating procedures and manufacturer instructions

  • Maintain compliance with Maryland Boiler Safety regulations and applicable local codes

  • Record operating data and inspection logs accurately

  • Perform preventive maintenance and assist with diagnosing issues in boiler and mechanical systems

  • Respond to facility alarms, equipment issues, and urgent service situations when required

  • Assist with related mechanical systems including pumps, motors, heat exchangers, and expansion tanks

  • Work at facilities throughout Maryland which may include government, healthcare, industrial, or commercial properties

Job requirements

  • Active Grade 4 Stationary Engineer License issued by the State of Maryland

  • 1 to 3 years of experience operating boilers or similar mechanical systems

  • Knowledge of steam systems, hydronic systems, boiler controls, and safety devices

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, gauges, standard operating procedures, and operational logs

  • Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and documentation

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and access mechanical rooms including confined or high temperature areas

  • Availability for night shifts, weekend shifts, or on call rotations when required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in government, healthcare, or industrial facilities is helpful

  • Familiarity with water treatment processes and chemical testing methods is helpful

  • Experience assisting with HVAC or related facility systems is helpful

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is helpful

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across multiple mechanical systems
