Forklift Operator

    • Hickory, Kentucky
  • $17 - $20 per hour

Job description

Yellowstone Local is proud to represent MRCOOL, an industry leader in HVAC and climate solutions.

If you like staying active, operating equipment, and being part of a team that keeps a busy warehouse moving, MRCOOL has an opportunity for you.

This role gives you the best of both worlds: about 50% forklift operation and 50% hands-on warehouse work. You’ll spend part of your day operating equipment and moving product, and the rest helping with picking, staging, palletizing, and other important warehouse tasks.

If you enjoy variety and don’t want to do the exact same thing all day, this could be a great fit.

What's in it for You?

  • Pay: $17–$20 per hour

  • Location: Hickory, KY 42051

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance

  • 401(k)

  • 2 weeks of PTO per year, increasing with tenure

  • Hands-on experience with forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, pallet jacks, handheld scanners, and warehouse management systems

  • Opportunities to build experience across multiple areas of warehouse operations

  • Schedule may vary based on operational needs

  • Opportunities for overtime, weekend work, or adjusted shifts may be available based on business needs

  • Forklift certification is preferred, but company training may be provided for qualified candidates

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Your day has variety. You won’t be stuck doing one repetitive task for an entire shift.

  • Build broader warehouse skills. Gain experience in forklift operation, picking, staging, shipping, receiving, inventory, and material handling.

  • Be part of a team that works together. Everyone plays a role in keeping the operation moving.

  • Stay active. This is a hands-on environment where you’ll move between equipment operation and warehouse-floor responsibilities.

  • Your work matters. Accurate picking, safe product movement, organized pallets, and clean work areas all directly support the success of the warehouse.

  • Safety comes first. You’ll work with established equipment inspections, traffic procedures, PPE requirements, loading practices, and OSHA safety standards.

Your New Role

As a Forklift Operator in Hickory, KY, you’ll play an important role in keeping products moving safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse.

Your day will be approximately:

  • 50% forklift and equipment operation

  • 50% warehouse and floor responsibilities

That means one part of your shift may involve moving and staging pallets, while another may involve picking products, building orders, organizing inventory, or helping another area of the warehouse.

The goal is simple: work together, stay productive, and help the team get the job done.

Forklift & Equipment Responsibilities

  • Safely operate sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, pallet jacks, and other assigned material-handling equipment.

  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and shipping containers.

  • Move inventory to storage, staging, picking, and shipping locations.

  • Retrieve and stage products for customer orders, transfers, and outbound shipments.

  • Replenish picking locations and support stocking operations.

  • Inspect loads to ensure products and pallets are stable and secure.

  • Complete pre-shift equipment inspections and report any safety or mechanical concerns.

  • Follow warehouse traffic procedures and established safety standards.

Warehouse & Floor Responsibilities

When you’re not operating equipment, you’ll help keep the warehouse running smoothly by:

  • Picking products for orders.

  • Placing and organizing products on pallets.

  • Packing, wrapping, labeling, staging, and loading orders.

  • Assisting with shipping, receiving, and replenishment.

  • Keeping aisles, docks, staging areas, and workspaces clean and organized.

  • Sweeping and maintaining clean warehouse-floor areas.

  • Supporting inventory counts and location audits.

  • Helping teammates wherever needed to keep work moving.

  • Taking on additional warehouse responsibilities as assigned.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

The strongest people in this role are flexible, dependable, and team-oriented.

You may be operating a forklift one moment and helping build a pallet or pick an order the next. That variety is part of the job — and it gives you the chance to contribute across the entire warehouse instead of being limited to just one responsibility.

We’re looking for someone who sees helping the team as part of the job, not an interruption to it.

If you’re willing to jump in, stay productive, and help wherever needed, you’ll fit in well here.

Job requirements

  • At least 1 year of warehouse and forklift operating experience is required.

  • Current forklift certification is preferred; company training may be provided for qualified candidates.

  • Comfortable splitting time between forklift operation and hands-on warehouse work.

  • Willingness to assist with picking, palletizing, cleaning, loading, and other warehouse responsibilities.

  • Strong team-player mentality.

  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment in active shipping and receiving environments.

  • Ability to read product labels, item numbers, location codes, shipping documents, and inventory records.

  • Basic computer and handheld scanner skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime, weekends, or adjusted shifts based on business needs.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.

  • Ability to successfully complete a background check, drug screening, and physical or lifting assessment.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.

  • Ability to repeatedly enter and exit forklift equipment.

  • Ability to work at elevated heights while operating approved warehouse equipment.

  • Ability to work in warehouse temperatures that may be hot or cold depending on the season.

  • Ability to work around moving equipment, vehicle traffic, noise, dust, and changing warehouse conditions.

  • Commitment to forklift safety, material-handling procedures, PPE requirements, equipment inspections, and OSHA safety standards.
