Your New Role

  • Perform comprehensive residential energy audits for single-family and multifamily homes based out of Cockeysville, Maryland, with travel throughout assigned Maryland service areas

  • Inspect attics, crawlspaces, basements, building envelopes, HVAC equipment, water heaters, windows, insulation, and other areas affecting home energy performance

  • Perform diagnostic testing including blower door, zonal pressure, infrared camera, combustion safety, and HVAC testing

  • Develop practical scopes of work for air sealing, insulation, weatherization, HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, and other energy-efficiency improvements

  • Identify qualifying equipment or appliances for replacement and recognize barriers that could affect weatherization work

  • Educate customers on energy-efficiency improvements and clearly explain audit findings and recommended solutions

  • Complete required documentation, customer signatures, photographs, work orders, and data entry using systems such as Hancock, Beacon, EDS Manual J, and CompanyCam

  • Perform in-process and final Quality Control Inspections to verify completed work meets applicable program and EcoMize standards

  • Coordinate with customers, contractors, administrative staff, field teams, program leadership, and inspectors to keep projects moving

  • Safely operate a company vehicle, maintain required BPI credentials, and stay current with applicable energy-efficiency and weatherization program requirements

Job requirements

  • Required Qualifications

    • Current BPI Energy Auditor Certification

    • Minimum 2 years of home energy diagnostic testing or home services experience

    • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets applicable company vehicle and insurance requirements

    • Ability to satisfy lawful, job-related post-offer screening requirements applicable to the position, including the required 4-panel drug screening that excludes cannabis

    • Experience with residential energy auditing and diagnostic testing, including blower door testing, zonal pressure testing, infrared inspections, combustion safety testing, and HVAC assessments

    • Working knowledge of insulation, air sealing, building envelopes, ventilation, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, weatherization, and building science

    • Ability to diagnose home energy and comfort issues, interpret testing data, identify appropriate improvements, and develop accurate, practical scopes of work

  • Preferred Qualifications

    • BPI Quality Control Inspector (QCI) Certification

    • Multifamily Auditor credentials or experience

    • Building science, weatherization, or construction experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Professional & Technical Skills

    • Strong computer, typing, data-entry, documentation, handwriting, organizational, and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to learn and accurately use required customer and program databases

    • Professional demeanor, phone manner, and customer-service skills

    • Ability to explain technical and scientific concepts clearly and build professional rapport with customers from different backgrounds and cultures

    • Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating with administrative staff, field teams, contractors, inspectors, and company leadership

    • Ability to manage competing priorities, organize routine and non-routine tasks, manage multiple projects or schedules, analyze data, retain required information, and make sound decisions that may affect work quality and customer health and well-being

    • Ability to understand and apply routine, non-routine, and complex verbal or written instructions and collaborate with others to solve complex problems

    • Ability to maintain concentration, communicate effectively, interact professionally with others, and exercise appropriate emotional and behavioral self-regulation

    • Ability to adapt to changing program requirements and guidelines and continue professional development, including maintaining and advancing applicable BPI and other certifications

    • Passion for energy efficiency and helping customers improve the efficiency, comfort, and performance of their homes

  • Physical & Work Requirements

    • Ability to work professionally in customer homes and office environments, including unfinished areas such as attics, basements, and crawlspaces

    • Ability to wear appropriate company-required work attire, including closed-toe, non-slip footwear, durable work pants or shorts, and EcoMize-branded shirts or jackets

    • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

    • Ability to perform frequent bending, squatting, reaching, standing, walking, repetitive motion, finger dexterity, handwriting, and typing, with occasional sitting

    • Ability to perform duties requiring motor and fine motor control, visual perception and inspection, hand-eye coordination, color distinction, hearing, and speaking, with or without reasonable accommodation
