Your New Role as Senior Rail Logistics Coordinator

In this vital role, you will:

  • Coordinate with railroads to schedule and release shipments, ensuring smooth operations across multiple facilities.
  • Manage compliance with weight regulations to prevent costly delays and interruptions.
  • Negotiate competitive rates for unit trains and manifest cars, optimizing costs across our U.S. operations.
  • Act as the primary contact between EMR and rail carriers, handling communication for demurrage, deviations, and improvements.
  • Oversee rail equipment budgets, including ordering additional cars as needed.
  • Prepare timely rail movement reports for our shipping and receiving teams.
  • Approve rail bill requests with precision, ensuring they meet company and carrier requirements.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify and resolve inefficiencies, implementing procedural changes that boost operational success.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Proven experience in export documentation and compliance
  • Familiarity with unit trains, railroad operations, data tracking, and rail logistics software
  • Skilled in rate and contract negotiations
  • Proficient in generating reports and analyzing logistics data
  • Strong understanding of industry trends, regulations, and best practices
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant logistics software
