Your New Role

  • Work as a Journeyman Electrician based in the Plainwell and Greater Kalamazoo, Michigan area, with projects throughout Kalamazoo, Van Buren, Allegan, and Barry counties

  • Perform electrical installations, repairs, upgrades, and related electrical work

  • Install conduit, wiring, electrical panels, branch circuitry, devices, fixtures, lighting, and associated electrical equipment

  • Work with electrical distribution systems, service upgrades, dedicated equipment circuits, exterior lighting, security lighting, and other electrical systems as assigned

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, specifications, and job instructions

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, diagnose field issues, and complete repairs

  • Perform electrical work according to applicable electrical codes, project specifications, and Laws Electric quality standards

  • Contribute to new construction, remodels, renovations, and other electrical projects

  • Work effectively with Foremen, other Journeyman Electricians, and Apprentices

  • Help guide and train less-experienced electricians and apprentices when appropriate

  • Communicate material, equipment, project, and field needs to leadership

  • Keep assigned work moving efficiently and support project schedules and deadlines

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites

  • Protect customer and company property while performing electrical work

  • Represent Laws Electric professionally with customers, coworkers, and other trades

  • Take ownership of assigned work and consistently deliver clean, high-quality results

Job requirements

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License

  • Valid Driver's License

  • 4+ years of electrical experience

  • Working knowledge of electrical fixtures, panels, circuitry, and electrical systems

  • Ability to safely and efficiently perform electrical installations

  • Ability to read and follow electrical blueprints, drawings, specifications, and job instructions

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of an electrical crew

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Dependable, self-starting, and goal-oriented approach to work

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Ability to follow direction and complete assigned work without constant supervision

  • Willingness to collaborate with and support Foremen, Journeyman Electricians, and Apprentices

  • Ability to satisfy Laws Electric's applicable pre-employment requirements

  • Experience with new construction, remodels, renovations, electrical service upgrades, panels and distribution, branch circuitry, lighting, dedicated equipment circuits, network cabling, exterior and security lighting, or electrical troubleshooting and repairs is valuable
