Design fire alarm systems for commercial and industrial projects in Richland Hills, TX, and the greater DFW area
Create detailed system layouts, device placement drawings, and riser diagrams using AutoCAD and related design software
Perform battery calculations and ensure compliance with NFPA 72, NEC, and local codes
Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents for accuracy and compliance
Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to ensure smooth project execution
Support preconstruction efforts with takeoffs and design input
Revise drawings based on field conditions and Authority Having Jurisdiction feedback
Deliver accurate, complete, and constructible fire alarm system designs

5 or more years of fire alarm system design experience
NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems Level II or III preferred, but not required
Proficiency in AutoCAD with SpringCAD experience preferred but not required
Strong knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and applicable fire and life safety codes
Experience designing commercial fire alarm systems, including large-scale or multi-story projects
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, and specifications
Experience supporting estimating or preconstruction efforts preferred
Familiarity with commercial projects valued at $2M or more
Experience coordinating with AHJs and navigating permitting processes preferred
