Responsibilities

  • Assist the solar inverter and battery installer in the installation of new residential solar systems, including hanging equipment, building mounting walls for inverters, and drilling through concrete for PVC piping.
  • Troubleshoot existing solar installation issues as needed, utilizing knowledge of solar components and electrical systems to identify and resolve issues efficiently. 
  • Utilize contractor skills such as using a Circular saw and hanging inverters on concrete, as well as basic electrical skills including wiring main breaker panels and circuit breakers, and bending EMT conduit as required for installation tasks.
  • Support in the installation of solar components, including solar batteries and inverters, and be prepared to assist in troubleshooting system errors and removing/reinstalling solar panels for repairs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in other solar electrical skills such as building battery cables, installing AC main disconnects, and wiring DC from solar to inverters, while adhering to residential electric code for solar installations and safety standards.

Job requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in electrical service work 
  • Contractor Skills - Able to hang equipment, use a circular saw, build a mounting wall for a solar inverter, hang an inverter on concrete, and drill through concrete for PVC piping. (Training available)
  • Basic Electrical Skills - Knowledge of basic home wiring (wiring a main breaker panel, basic grounding requirements, ability to wire in circuit breakers, separate grounds and neutrals, ability to bend EMT conduit, How to upgrade a breaker panel, being with residential electric code for solar, moving breaker panel circuits to another breaker panel.
  • Solar Components Installation and troubleshooting skills - How to install a solar battery (training available on our specific components) and how to install a solar inverter (training available on our specific components). Will not be installing solar panels, but will need to know how to troubleshoot solar system errors and remove and reinstall a panel when required to repair it
  • Other Solar Electrical Skills - How to build battery cables, How to install AC main disconnect, How to install line side taps, wire DC from solar to inverter, wire utility meter to AC disconnect
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in various environments
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
