Your New Role

  • Serve as a working Commercial Electrical Foreman based in the Plainwell and Greater Kalamazoo, Michigan area, with projects throughout Laws Electric's West Michigan service territory

  • Lead commercial electrical projects in the field from plans through successful completion

  • Supervise, organize, and provide direction to journeyman electricians and apprentices

  • Plan daily and weekly field activities to maintain project schedules and productivity

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, specifications, and project documentation

  • Coordinate manpower based on project schedules, priorities, and upcoming work

  • Plan materials, electrical equipment, and tools before they're needed on the jobsite

  • Delegate work according to project priorities and crew capabilities

  • Monitor labor productivity, workmanship, quality, and overall project progress

  • Install and oversee commercial electrical systems, including panels and distribution, branch circuitry, lighting, dedicated equipment circuits, service upgrades, network cabling, and related electrical installations

  • Identify field challenges early and develop practical solutions that keep projects moving

  • Ensure electrical installations meet applicable electrical codes, project specifications, and safety requirements

  • Coordinate effectively with management, project stakeholders, and other trades on active construction sites

  • Communicate project status, manpower requirements, material needs, scheduling concerns, and potential problems to management

  • Train and develop less-experienced electricians while maintaining crew productivity

  • Maintain clean, organized, professional, and safe job sites

  • Take accountability for assigned projects and the quality of the finished installation

Job requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician License

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Significant commercial electrical field experience

  • Previous leadership experience as an Electrical Foreman, Superintendent, General Foreman, Lead Journeyman, or comparable electrical field leadership role

  • Approximately 10 to 15+ years of electrical industry experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to independently run commercial electrical projects and crews

  • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical construction, installations, electrical panels, distribution, circuitry, fixtures, and lighting systems

  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, specifications, and construction documents

  • Experience planning manpower, materials, equipment, and daily field activities

  • Ability to monitor schedules, labor productivity, workmanship, and project quality

  • Strong troubleshooting and field problem-solving skills

  • Ability to coordinate effectively with other trades and project stakeholders

  • Strong organizational, time-management, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to train, delegate to, and provide clear direction to electricians and apprentices

  • Self-directed and goal-oriented approach with the ability to work effectively without constant supervision

  • Commitment to electrical safety, code compliance, and high-quality craftsmanship

  • Ability to satisfy Laws Electric's applicable pre-employment requirements
