Now, let's talk about your responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight: Manage all accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting principles.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare budgets for projects and the overall company, analyzing financial performance and forecasting future needs.

  • Cash Flow Management: Ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs, manage accounts receivables and payables.

  • Project Costing: Track project costs, manage project budgets, and conduct profitability analysis to keep projects within budget.

  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with financial regulations, manage financial risks related to construction projects.

  • Financial Reporting: Produce accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Internal Controls: Implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.

  • Strategic Planning: Advise on financial implications of business decisions, contribute to strategic planning and operational improvements.

  • Team Leadership: Oversee the accounting team, ensuring efficiency, training, and alignment with company goals.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting or finance experience for a General Contractor, MEP Contractor. Must have experience in construction or electrical industry.
  • Experience in managing an accounting or finance team.
  • Proficiency in GAAP and construction accounting practices.
  • Skilled in accounting software and advanced Excel; ERP systems knowledge a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to adapt and continuously learn.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and standards in the construction industry, as well as, familiarity with California construction laws/codes..
  • Good understanding of the life cycle of construction projects, including Contracts, Insurance, change orders, phased billing, certified payrolls, accounting, and reporting.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
