As the Construction Bookkeeper, you'll work on-site in Portland, Oregon and support the financial operations of construction projects by maintaining accurate records and assisting with project accounting.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing daily bookkeeping and construction accounting activities
Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
Maintaining accurate job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
Supporting percentage-of-completion accounting and project financial tracking
Preparing customer invoices, progress billings, and retainage documentation
Monitoring accounts receivable aging and following up on outstanding balances
Processing vendor payments and maintaining lien waiver documentation
Reconciling accounts and assisting with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
Preparing financial reports using QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Maintaining fixed asset records and assisting with cash flow tracking
Working with project managers to support budgets and project profitability

At least 3 years of construction bookkeeping or construction accounting experience
Experience in plumbing, HVAC, mechanical contracting, or a related construction industry is preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
Working knowledge of job costing, project accounting, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting methods
Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Experience with document management software such as DocuWare is preferred
Familiarity with ADP, certified payroll, or similar payroll systems is a plus
Understanding of progress billing, Schedule of Values (SOV), and retainage
Experience managing lien waivers, preliminary notices, and collections
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Clear written and verbal communication skills
