Responsibilities

The Petroleum Equipment Installer is the leader and manager of a tank installation project that has direct contact with field personnel and sub-contractors. The Petroleum Equipment Installer will work with the project manager to make sure tank installation projects are on schedule. This position will also be required to generate change orders. Below are the essential functions of this position:

  • Skills Mastery & Training
    • Master the specialty skills and processes used and be able to train others
    • Various hardware and general construction skills
  • Project Planning
    • Review plans, design, and key contract terms with the Project Manager
    • Create a job packing list with the Shop Manager and Project Manager to ensure all necessary materials and tools are delivered to the job site
  • Project Installation
    • Coordinate and manage schedule with Project Manager to meet budget and timeline. Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager on project status.
    • Allocate onsite resources to meet schedule
  • Team Management
    • Direct all crew activities, providing onsite training as needed
    • Ensure the safety of workers and equipment
    • Motivate and develop construction team members
    • Communicate issues to the Project Manager and work together on solutions
  • Client and Job site Relations
    • Act as the Client’s primary point of contact while onsite. Manage client expectations and requests, communicating regularly with the Project Manager
    • Manage the crew’s interaction with other trades
  • Process Improvement
    • Provide recommendations to improve the installation process, saving money and time
    • Participate in project debriefs with Project Management. Share knowledge gained from each project to be applied to future installations
    • Perform other duties as assigned

Job requirements

  • 5 years of professional hands-on construction skills including ownership of basic tool belt-type Personal tools
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing a construction crew
  • Commercial job site experience and knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred
  • Excellent communication skills to be able to effectively and quickly communicate with Project Management, crew, and client
  • An eye for craftsmanship
  • Ability to put visual elements in words and provide feedback to craftsmen
  • Excellent organizational skills and organizational responsibility
  • Ability to create lists, schedules, organization of receipts and payroll hours
  • Ability to do these things quickly and efficiently
  • Ability and desire to lead a traveling and working lifestyle
  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions
  • Must possess state certification as an underground tank installer
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license before employment
  • Must be willing to travel and stay overnight
  • ICC License Preferred
  • Clean background check
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
